The morning ride..
Got a brief ride in the afternoon, just 20 miles to the reservation for smokes/gas. There was alot of yard work to be tackled, so we stayed home instead of spending the day riding like the rest of the world did. Bikes passed the house every few minutes, some folks we recognized, and they honked as they potatoed by our house. We waved, and returned to our work, while I was muttering under my breath that I wished I was the one riding by, instead of vice versa. Oh well.. tomorrow's the day we go on our ride.

Maiden Voyage 2004
Today's ride to work was the first in the 2004 season. Cool ride in the morning about 45 degrees, but the ride home at 6:30 was nicer, about 55 degrees, with partly cloudy skies, light breezes.

No evening riding occurred. I plan to do alot more riding this weekend though, as the weather report looks favorable all weekend.

More ripping continues
Well, successfuly ripped my first VCD the other day, and so now I'm on a kick with converting AVI concerts to SVCD's - just completed my Stevie Ray Vaughn Concert, a 2 disc show, that runs nicely on the Dvd player in the living room.

I have disc one of the Rush in Rio completed, an hour long disc of great Rush. The 2nd of 3 discs is giving me a problem, as I can't seem to get it to fit on a VCD, so I've downloaded some software, and I'm learning how to split the AVI into 2 more discs, so I can write them to SVCD, and watch them on my DVD player.

It's a steep learning curve, but I think I can get it, if I can have some time alone without the distractions interrupting me. It's a time-consuming process, because an hour long AVI takes forever to load in to the encoder, so if I split it into smaller files, I should be able to manage them better, and perhaps I can add some of my own 'special' effects, and promote my website at the same time.

Well, this isn't helping me any, I just finished loading the entire fucking file, which takes forever, and when I wanted to move to an area of the video to split it, it has to reload the entire fucking file all the fuck over again, and so, I sit and fucking wait for the fucking fuck to fucking load a-fucking-gain!

Well, back to the front..

It's a Wednesday - another snow morning.
Awoke to some more snow on the ground this morning. Not a lot of it, but it's another reminder that I won't be riding anytime soon as old Man winter just doesn't want to friggin' die just yet, and that he still has a firm grip on our area. Shit.

Last night was my first sucessful attempt at burning a VCD. I converted the first of three .AVI files to MPEG format, and using VCDEasy, created my very first VCD which I promptly slipped into the DVD player to test and Whala! I was watching my first ever created VCD disc, which made me quite suprised, because I didn't know what the hell I was doing, just following the instructions that came with the software. I'm hooked on concerts now and I'm currently searching for anything I can get my hands on that's available on the net. currently working on Jimi Henridix Live at Woodstock and Stevie Ray Vaughn live at the Rock Palast, which should be down before the morning is out.

It's a complicated series of proceedures, writing a VCD, and you have to follow the instructions or you'll end up with a shit disc, and alot of wasted time. Kind of like brewing wine, I guess, or brewing beer, the product isn't ready until it's time, and if you rush it, you will ruin the fruits of your labors.

Today's a busy day, I have to meet with several folks, got alot of phone calls to make, and there's alot shit to do before the swap meet coming up on May 1st. I have some fears about this event, and think we could be in for some serious headaches if we don't have all the details worked out for the event. There's food, beer, and vendors to deal with. There's alot of other things that need to happen, and if we don't get the people we need to help, we'll be stuck in the middle of Niagara County without a pot to piss in.

I'm mailing out 2 more vendor applications to those who've requested them, and I think things are going to get real busy, real fast before the last week of the event. Seems like everyone waits to the end to file the applications, and all has to be done at once to get this off the ground without alot of problems - we'll see as it goes along.

7:15 am and time for me to head out to my morning meeting. Have a good one.. Till then,

Hawkwynd.

Undiscovered Country
Don't eat food while working with a laptop, it's a messy ordeal.

First, let me start by saying how impressed I am with the video world of the internet. I've recently discovered an area of the computing world where video and music are the norm, and all the wonderous things a person can do with movies, videos, music and the wide variety of softwares out there to do the uncountable things one could do with multimedia. Everything from streaming, ripping, extracting, splitting, compressing, uncompressing, burning and duplication of music, video, and movies. It's goddamned in-freakin' credible!

I've recently started downloading multimedia content with bit-torrent technology. Wow, is all I can say. Double-wow to the limitless resources that are out there for this technology alone, not to mention the countless lists of stuff one can obtain from it. It's the latest 'thing since sliced bread'.

Hit SuprNova.org for starters, and work your way out from there. Then try bittornado.org and see how you will get so friggin' hooked, you'll never know where it stops!
