Forecast for Saturday
Forecast for Today
Mostly cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms likely by this afternoon. Highs in the lower 70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Becoming southeast around 10 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.

Looks like another washout Saturday, seems like we get this everytime we're trying to do something that has to do with riding.. Sigh...

Well, we're supposed to be heading up our highway cleanup today, but things are looking bleak that that's going to happen, if it's raining. Also, there's only myself and two other people showing up, so I think it's best if we postpone the event, and try again another day. I'll have to contact the folks to let them know it's postponed. Maybe next week, or the week after. I'm tired of being the only one of a few who show up to do anything in this chapter, so screw this, I'm letting it go.

There's a bike blessing at the neighborhood church today, I'd rather go to that in the rain than walk a stretch of a highway in the rain and pick up shit that no one cares about anyways.

I bought a pack of smokes today - bad Scott, bad-bad Scott!

I wish I could just hop on the bike, and outrun these storms and find myself at the top of a mountain watching the rains from afar. That's not going to happen today, so what mundane things will I do with my day, so that it's not a total loss. Patti wants to go see Rip and the Bandogs tonight, so that is something to look semi-forward to. Can't drink, can't smoke, what do you do???

Later..

Ever Notice?
Ever notice how people can be so fucking annoying to the point you want to just backhand them silly? Especially annoying are those silly people who don't know jack about what thier talking about, but pretend to be some sort of fucking guru about the information they proclaim to know, but really dont. To them, I say Fuck you! Go back to the shadows of the lies you are spewing and come back when you've got something resembling the very shred of a clue!

Asswipes like that are fun to swat, like a shit-eating fly that simply is too stupid to get out of the way of your hand when you squish them into a deathly existance..

Die stupid people die!

Why is it that every time something bad happens, it somehow finds it's way to link to me? Whenever shit happens to me, I somehow find that I am responsible for the bad shit happenening. I guess that's just how it goes.

Well, I'm just fucking babbly..

Freedom Rally in Albany
The 2004 Freedom Rally in Albany NY saw perfect weather for the day of the ride, Monday May 17th. I have a story to tell that entails just me getting a trailer for the trip down. I'll elaborate more on that later. The weekend was marked with a few hairy moments, and a few boring ones, but for the most part, it was semi-hairy all the time.

Starting out on Sunday, I had to get a trailer for the bike to make the trip to Albany. I called a friend, who told me he had a trailer, and I went to his house on Saturday 1pm to pick it up. On arrival, the trailer was indeed way to small to hold my bike. I brought it home, and after measuring the trailer, and my bike, I confirmed my fear that the trailer wouldn't suit my needs. I then called another friend, who said he too had a bike trailer, and I made the drive to South Wales to get it. Big problem arose when we discovered the trailer needed a 2 inch ball. I had a 1 7/8 in ball, and we tried to remove the ball. We even heated it up to get the rusty threads to give a little, but later discovered that we would have to cut it off with a torch to get the ball off. I gave up, and drove home, with the bad news to Patti that we had no trailer for the bike, and that I would have to ride the bike to Albany, and she would drive.

Well, that didn't fly with her - she wasn't going to drive all the way to Albany. So, back to plan A - I went out to the driveway, and decided to make do with what I had, the original trailer. I called my neighbor over to have another pair of eyes look at it. Greg inspected the trailer and we deemed it worthy of toting the bike, but some modifications would have to be made to make it safe.

So, Greg whips out a big piece of iron, his chop saw that cuts anything and an asetaline torch. In just minutes, Greg had fabricated a secure toe-chock on the front of the trailer, and even had a spare ramp for the bike to boot! I was truly impressed with his ability to make this trailer road-worthy in such a short time. He even fixed my electrical problem with the lights! I owe Greg a case of beer or something nice... So, we had a trailer, got the bike loaded, and by Sunday morning we were on our way to Albany. Left the house at 8:00am.

We were on the 90 by 8:45am and arrived unscathed in Albany about 1:30pm, and after a nice nap, we were settled in the hotel, with the bike unloaded and ready for riding. A nice day, we toured the area for a little while and scoped out the location of that evening's party. We returned to the hotel and met up with a group including Dennis from our chapter, who rode all the way to Albany on his 1971 Yamaha 650! What a trooper, I must say.

I'll update this blog later today, when I have time, because I have to prepare for work now.
